Go Go Go Jo and Stagecoach
A group of local young people aged between seven and sixteen years old have been getting in tune ready to take to the stage in a national touring production that is visiting the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough next week.
Students from Stagecoach Scarborough have been invited to form the choir for Bill Kenwright’s hit show Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. Stagecoach Principal Maria Arnold says, “The students are really excited by this fantastic opportunity and have been rehearsing really hard. Some of them already know the ropes as they have taken part in the show before and they have been passing on tips to those who will be in the Joseph choir for the first time. They are really looking forward to singing in the show and meeting the cast especially Keith Jack who is playing Joseph.”
Keith Jack took part in the BBC series ‘Any Dream Will Do’, a competition to find the lead role for Andrew Lloyd Webbers new West End Production. Keith originally had the part of narrator in the show and took over the lead role in 2011 which he continues to play on the UK tour 2012.
Amongst the choir taking to the stage is Stagecoach student India Robertson, this will be her first performance since her recent operation in America to help her walk again. Maria comments “India missed performing in the recent Stagecoach show ‘Shine’ in July due to her operation and I am delighted that she will be able to take part in Joseph. It will be a great experience for her and all the Stagecoach students taking part.”
Joseph and The Technicolour Dreamcoat is a colourful retelling by Bill Kenwright of the Biblical story of Joseph, his brothers, and a coat of many colours. Full of well known and much loved songs including “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door” the show appeals to all ages.
The show will be running for a week with eight performances in total and Stagecoach Scarborough will be sharing the spotlight with the students from Stagecoach York. For more information about Stagecoach go to www.stagecoach.co.uk/scarborough or call 01723 352001.
